Perhaps no player is set to benefit more from the Mike Macdonald hire than Odafe Oweh. As previously noted, Macdonald oversaw the rise of two star Michigan pass rushers in 2021.

Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo went from part-time starters to full-time superstars this past season and both players are projected to be selected in the top-10 in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The former, Hutchinson, might just be the No. 1 overall pick when all is said and done. Macdonald deserves a ton of credit for allowing both players to reach their ceilings at Michigan.

Ravens fans have to be eager to see what Macdonald can do with Oweh. The 31st overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Oweh’s NFL career got off to a hot start as he wasted little time making an impact with three sacks in his first five games.

His play tailed off a little in the weeks/months after that as he finished with five sacks and 15 QB hits in 15 games. It was a promising rookie season from the young pass rusher, but it’s clear that he hasn’t even come close to reaching his ceiling.

That’s where Macdonald can come into play.

Oweh reminds me a little of Ojabo in that both players were relatively raw coming out of college. However, their athletic traits laid the foundation for an All-Pro ceiling at the NFL level.

If Mike Macdonald can unlock Oweh’s potential as he did with Hutchinson and Ojabo, the Ravens might just have found their next star pass rusher.
