The Baltimore Ravens are hoping to retain at least a few of their internal free agents this offseason. While the team doesn’t have a ton of cap space, there should be room to bring back a few in-house free agents.
That said, as is always the case with free agency, they aren’t just competing against themselves.
31 other teams will also be in the market looking for similar players, and as the Ravens have seen in recent years, it isn’t always easy to bring back the players you want to.
The Ravens have become known as an organization that drafts and develops their own talent, but not one that is always able to keep their own.
Players like Ryan Jensen, Matthew Judon, and many others have made a name for themselves in Baltimore only to find a permanent home elsewhere once their rookie contracts expired. Expect that to be the case with a few players again this year.
This offseason is an especially interesting one, however. One team could emerge as a true rival of the Ravens when it comes to attracting certain free agents. That team is the New York Giants, the new employer of former Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.
The Ravens parted ways with Martindale earlier in the offseason and the Giants quickly swooped in and made him their new defensive coordinator. It’s certainly possible that he could lure some of his former players away to his new home.
Let’s take a look at four Ravens free agents who could reunite with Wink Martindale in New York.
