2. Ravens target: Marcus Maye, S

Marcus Maye is my favorite value signing for the Ravens. If they’re looking for a true upgrade at the safety position for a very affordable price, Maye is the way to go.

A former standout safety with the New York Jets, Maye’s stock has plummeted over the last calendar year following an arrest for a DUI and a torn Achilles.

It’s unlikely Maye receives anything more than a one-year, prove-it deal at this stage, and that could be perfect for a Ravens team with limited financial flexibility.

Maye would give the Ravens a true center-field free safety with the upside of a potential Pro Bowler — all at a very reasonable price.

1. Ravens target: Tyrann Mathieu, S

This is the dream target for a lot of Ravens fans. Finances make this somewhat of a pipe dream, but if there was a perfect-fit free-agent target for Baltimore, it would be Tyrann Mathieu.

The three-time All-Pro is all but confirmed to be leaving Kansas City and will be looking for a new home in free agency. The Ravens offer an appealing scheme and a chance to reshape the team’s defensive culture.

Mathieu is not only still one of the best safeties in the NFL, but he’s also a culture-shifter. His attitude is exactly what this Ravens defense needs.

He won’t come cheap, but if the Ravens are going to make one splash this offseason, it should be Tyrann Mathieu.
