2. The Ravens could sign J.C. Tretter

There’s one obvious player remaining on the free-agent market who would represent a major upgrade at the position. That player is former Cleveland Browns center, J.C. Tretter.

The Browns made the surprising decision to release Tretter last week allowing one of the best centers in football to sign with a new team. Ideally, that team would be the Ravens.

At 31-years-old, Tretter wouldn’t necessarily be a long-term fix. Instead, he would represent another instance of the Ravens jumping at the opportunity to land a good player who was released by another team in a cap-saving move.

This would be your Kevin Zeitler signing of the offseason. And if Tretter were to work out similarly to how Zeitler worked out last year, the Ravens would be celebrating.

Tretter finished the 2021 season with a 78.7 PFF grade that ranked sixth among all centers in the NFL. He’s finished with a top-10 PFF grade in each of the last four years and seven of the last eight.

By all accounts, he’s one of the best centers in the NFL and someone with plenty of experience playing in the AFC North. He would be a home-run signing.

The issue is that he certainly has his fair share of suitors and that signing him, even at this stage, won’t come cheap.

Tretter is more of a dream signing than an actual reality, but without a doubt, he is easily the most appealing option.
