The Baltimore Ravens remain very interested in signing free-agent linebacker Bobby Wagner. And according to one recent report, the team seemingly believes they have a very good chance to land him.

Josina Anderson reported on Monday that the Ravens believe they have a “very competitive offer” on the table for Wagner, in comparison to the offer he’s received from the Los Angeles Rams.

Anderson added that the Ravens’ pitch to Wagner included “his addition to an already stacked defense and [the] ability to add to his legacy.” Certainly a strong pitch on top of the money they’ve offered.

At this stage, it just comes down to Wagner’s decision. All the Ravens, Rams, and any other team that is interested can do now is wait.

The Ravens might be on the verge of signing Bobby Wagner

There’s little doubt that Wagner would be a massive addition to a Ravens defense that still needs some work. An eight-time Pro Bowler, Wagner is arguably the best linebacker of his generation.

He’s made eight consecutive Pro Bowls, been named first-team All-Pro in six of the last eight seasons, and is a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Even at 31-years-old, he’s still playing at a very high level, even if he’s lost a step or two. You could easily argue that Wagner would be the Ravens’ best linebacker since the days of Ray Lewis, or at the very least since the days of C.J. Mosley.

Head coach John Harbaugh spoke to the media on Monday and insisted that the Ravens weren’t done adding free agents, hinting that they had at least 1-2 signings left in them.

It seems as though Wagner has been made a top priority for the organization, and it’s hard to blame them. Adding Wagner would go a long way toward fixing a Ravens defense that underperformed in 2021.

Wagner was somewhat surprisingly released by the Seattle Seahawks shortly following the Russell Wilson trade. Now, the Ravens have a chance to capitalize on the opportunity.
