Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made some (mostly unnecessary) headlines this spring when he opted not to attend the voluntary portion of the team’s offseason program.

Jackson continued to work out away from the team during OTAs leading to speculation that it could be related to his ongoing contract “dispute.”

Despite this, both Jackson and the Ravens insisted that there were no issues between the two sides and that he would be in attendance for the team’s mandatory minicamp that’s slated to run from June 14-16.

On Monday, cornerback Marlon Humphrey posted a video to his Instagram showing Jackson in Baltimore alongside his teammate. Not only did Jackson fulfill his promise, but he showed up a day early.

Lamar Jackson attends Ravens minicamp amidst his uncertain contract situation

Jackson has been a frequent subject of rumors and speculation this offseason given his somewhat puzzling contract situation.

Most expected the former MVP to ink a big-money extension with the Ravens before long, but as we approach mid-June, it seems increasingly unlikely that a deal gets done before the season starts.

The reason for such has been a point of contention, although most reports suggest that Jackson is the one who’s hesitant — not the Ravens. Why? That much is unclear, although many seem to believe that he’s willing to bet on himself and the ever-expanding QB market.

Whatever the reason, Jackson isn’t going to let his contract situation impact his performance. He may have been away from the team for OTAs, but he was never going to hold out of minicamp.

Ultimately, all those offseason rumors and speculation were just that — rumors and speculation. Lamar Jackson has reunited with his teammates in Owings Mills.

Now, let’s focus on some football.
