The Baltimore Ravens have been connected to various rumors regarding star wide receivers this offseason, and one name that’s popped up a few times has been Seattle Seahawks’ standout, DK Metcalf.

Metcalf is in search of a new contract and, with his status in Seattle looking murkier by the day, there’s been some talk that the team could look to trade him. If that’s the case, some feel that the Ravens make a lot of sense as a landing spot.

That was the notion shared by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox who recently listed the Ravens as the “best fit” for Metcalf if he were to be traded.

Of course, it still feels unlikely that the Seahawks decide to trade Metcalf before the season starts, and even less likely that the Ravens are the team to make the move. But at the very least, it’s fun to theorize about a hypothetical scenario.

"“The Baltimore Ravens should jump at the chance to add Metcalf if he becomes available. They lack proven talent at the receiver position—especially after dealing Marquise Brown during the draft—and Metcalf is well versed in the scramble drill after spending three seasons as a big-bodied deep threat for Wilson.Metcalf could play a similar role with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens while helping Baltimore get right back in the playoff mix.”"

Could the Ravens actually trade for DK Metcalf?

A second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Metcalf has put together three consecutive 900+ yard seasons to begin his NFL career including a Pro Bowl 2020 season that saw him finish with 83 catches for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He’s developed into one of the league’s better red-zone threats and field-stretchers, and there’s no denying that the Ravens could certainly use a player like him in their offense.

After trading away Marquise Brown, the Ravens boast one of the least experienced wide receiver corps in the NFL. They’re placing a lot of faith in the likes of Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, and James Proche to carry the load this season.

Trading for someone like Metcalf would alleviate the pressure on the team’s younger receivers while also providing the Ravens with another top-tier option to pair with Mark Andrews in the passing game.

Is it realistic, though? Probably not.

While the Seahawks have yet to reach a deal with Metcalf, the two sides are reportedly working on it. There’s been no indication that Seattle would entertain a trade, or that the Ravens would be the ones to pull the trigger.

Still, if the Ravens were to land Metcalf in a potential trade, their offense could be a contender for the most dynamic in the league. With Lamar Jackson, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Mark Andrews, and DK Metcalf, opposing defenses wouldn’t look forward to a matchup with the Ravens.

Next. Terry McLaurin still a potential trade target for the Ravens. dark

I wouldn’t put any money on the Ravens trading for Metcalf, but it’s always fun to dream.
