3. Ravens trade a first-round pick, fifth-round pick, and Chuck Clark for Terry McLaurin and a sixth-round pick

The Ravens just so happen to have an abundance of good players at a position that’s a sizable need for the Commanders. Perhaps that could help facilitate a trade this summer.

The addition of Kyle Hamilton in the 2022 NFL Draft led to plenty of questions about the future of veteran safety Chuck Clark. The Ravens insist that Clark will remain a key part of the defense, but it’s hard to imagine his role won’t decrease with Hamilton and Marcus Williams on the roster.

As a result, Clark has been the subject of some trade rumors in the days and weeks following the draft. He finds a new home here on a team that could really use him.

The release of Landon Collins has left the Commanders pretty thin at safety with the duo of Kamron Curl and Bobby McCain the most likely to start this season. There’s also fourth-round pick Percy Butler and 2021 fifth-round pick Darrick Forrest.

Clark would be a perfect replacement for Collins and someone who can fill his exact role as a hybrid safety/linebacker in Jack Del Rio’s defense.

The same baseline of a first and third-round pick was used here, although it’s fair to assume that Clark’s value is less than a third-round pick, even given his very team-friendly contract.

That’s why the Ravens and Commanders swap day picks with the latter getting the better of the swap.

This is a trade that actually helps the Commanders get better in the short term on defense while obviously giving the Ravens a new superstar on offense.

How likely is it? That much remains to be seen. But this package is probably my favorite of them all.
