Baltimore Ravens community mourns the loss of Jaylon Ferguson

The Baltimore Ravens announced on Wednesday morning the tragic passing of outside linebacker Jaylon Ferguson. No cause of death has been given at the time of writing.

Ferguson, 26, was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Ravens. After a record-setting career at Louisiana Tech, Ferguson would go on to play three seasons in the NFL from 2019-2021.

He was expected to compete for playing time this summer with reports emerging that he was in the best shape of his career. Ferguson was in attendance for the team’s offseason program this spring.

Ferguson, affectionately known as “Sack Daddy” finished his college career with an FBS-record 45 sacks. He recorded 67 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 13 tackles for loss during his three years in the NFL.

The Ravens released a statement about the tragic news early this morning.

"“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson. He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon.”"
