Ravens player No. 1: Justin Madubuike

One of the most overlooked stars of Week 1’s victory was defensive tackle Justin Madubuike.

Madubuike put together a solid performance with five tackles, one quarterback hit, and 0.5 sacks, and he also had a sack taken away due to a penalty.

The third-year tackle played an integral part in the Ravens’ run defense, which held New York to just 83 total yards, and he received deserved praise for his impact today.

Baltimore’s interior defense looked formidable with Calais Campbell, Michael Pierce, and Madubuike, but it was the youngest of them all, Madubuike, who impressed in his first game of the 2022 season.

After missing a handful of games in 2019 and 2020, Madubuike could grow into a reliable starter on the defensive line, and he at least held his own against the Jets’ offensive line.

Keep an eye on how Madubuike develops for the rest of the season.

Honorable mention: Ravens’ third-down defense

The team’s third-down defense deserves a nod, too, as the Ravens snuffed nearly all of the Jet’s third-down attempts this game.
