2. Ravens trade target: Brian Burns, EDGE

Now we get into the true superstars on this list. The Ravens have desperately searched for edge rusher help over the last two offseasons and it’s arguably been the team’s biggest weakness so far in 2022.

It just so happens that the Panthers have one of the best young edge rushers in the NFL under contract. And if Carolina is truly looking to sell some pieces, expect teams to be lining up for Brian Burns.

The former first-round pick already has 29.5 career sacks in just 53 games and is well on his way to a career year in 2022 with four sacks through five games. He’s never recorded fewer than 7.5 sacks in a season.

Meanwhile, the Ravens haven’t even had a single player register 7.5 sacks in a season since Matt Judon in 2019. Burns would easily be the best pass rusher the Ravens have had in years.

And at just 24 years old, Burns is a building block for the future. He’s a franchise cornerstone and someone the Ravens would look to extend almost immediately.

That’s part of the problem, of course. Aside from what it would take to acquire him in a trade, Burns is in search of a new contract with his rookie deal set to expire.

The Ravens would need to fork over significant draft capital and then pay Burns a lot of money. It would take a lot of resources to make this happen, but Burns might just be worth it.
