The Baltimore Ravens used last week’s bye week to help some of their key players rest and recover, one of whom was star tight end Mark Andrews. Fortunately, that rest seemed to do the trick.
Andrews was a limited participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, but he returned in a full capacity on Friday. The All-Pro tight end is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, but all indications are that he will be good to go.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported late Saturday night that Andrews is expected to play despite his questionable injury designation. His teammate, running back Gus Edwards, is also expected to return from injury, although he may be on a snap count.
If Andrews plays, he will have only been forced to miss one full week as a result of the bye week helping out. Rookie Isaiah Likely has filled in and done an admirable job, but there’s no denying this Ravens offense could really use Andrews.
Mark Andrews’ return should provide a spark to the Ravens’ offense
The Ravens enter Sunday’s game against the Panthers having won three consecutive games. However, they haven’t necessarily done so because of dominant offensive performances.
The Ravens have been winning games on the back of some excellent defensive football. The return of Andrews should help provide a spark to a Ravens passing game that could certainly use some assistance.
During a five-game stretch from Week 2 to Week 6, Andrews recorded at least 89 yards in four of those five games. He also hauled in a whopping five touchdowns and 32 total catches.
When healthy, Andrews is the centerpiece of this Ravens’ offense and the preferred target of Lamar Jackson. His absence was even more significant following the loss of Rashod Bateman for the season.
The Ravens will welcome Mark Andrews back with open arms in Week 11.
