An early look at the Ravens’ 2023 opponents
By Kristen Wong
The Baltimore Ravens finished in second place in the AFC North, giving them a considerably easier schedule than that of the first-place Cincinnati Bengals.
The 10-7 Ravens will play the second-place finishers in the AFC East, AFC West, and NFC North next year, setting up fixtures against the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, and Detroit Lions.
As a whole, Baltimore’s 2023 opponents finished with a 100-127-2 record this past season.
For home games, the Ravens will host the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks.
As for their away games, the Ravens will travel to the Bengals, Browns, Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans.
Baltimore Ravens’ 2023 opponents are finalized
Some first impressions from the 2023 schedule: other than the expected division matchups, the Ravens play a handful of potentially dangerous teams in the Lions, Dolphins, Jaguars, and 49ers.
The Ravens haven’t forgotten their early season collapse against the Dolphins nor their fourth-quarter implosion against the Jaguars, both of which ended in disappointing losses.
After beating the Packers twice this season, the Detroit Lions can’t be underestimated especially given Detroit’s loaded young talent, not to mention the Lions have two top-20 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Opponents aside, the Ravens’ 2023 season will hinge on whether Lamar Jackson stays with the franchise. Baltimore can act superior to rebuilding franchises like the Cardinals and Texans, yet the team has plenty of work to do this offseason in terms of building a serious Super Bowl contending roster.
By virtue of losing the AFC North, the Ravens avoid perennial heavyweights like the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, but an easy schedule doesn’t guarantee success. Case in point: the second half of the 2022 season.
Let’s see what 2023 has in store for the Ravens.
