Ravens news: Baltimore crashes out of playoffs, where is Lamar, and more
By Kristen Wong
The Baltimore Ravens got knocked out of the postseason by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night in the Wild Card game, falling 24-17.
It was the most agonizing loss of the year for the Ravens who had multiple chances to take a lead against their AFC North rivals.
J.K. Dobbins played a productive game, Mark Andrews made several clutch catches, and Demarcus Robinson scored an unexpected touchdown, but in the end, the Ravens couldn’t overcome their own deficiencies. Turnovers, costly penalties, and questionable clock management did the Ravens in, and Baltimore will go back to the drawing board to try and fix their offensive issues for next season.
The Bengals will go on to play the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round while the Ravens’ 2022 season comes to a bitter end.
Here’s what’s trending in Ravens news around the web
Michael Vick calls out Lamar Jackson for missing the postseason (Shanna McCarriston, CBS Sports)
Lamar Jackson has missed the last six weeks after suffering a serious PCL sprain in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos, and one former NFL player was very critical of Jackson heading into the Wild Card game.
Michael Vick called out Jackson’s absence telling him: “It’s the playoffs, you’re three games away. Put a brace on it. Get it going.”
It’s worth nothing that Jackson didn’t travel with the Ravens to Cincinnati for the Wild Card game either, adding more mystique to his future with the franchise.
John Harbaugh gives curt sideline interview during Bengals game (James Rapien, Sports Illustrated)
The Ravens-Bengals Wild Card game started in the worst possible way: Cincinnati held a lead in the first quarter, and quarterback Tyler Huntley threw an interception on his second pass attempt of the match.
It’s traditional for reporters to briefly interview coaches during games, and Melissa Stark had an opportunity to ask John Harbaugh a few questions after the first quarter.
Harbaugh was visibly annoyed during the interview, however, and when asked whether the Ravens would make a change at quarterback, he paused and then said matter-of-factly, “We’ll just see how the game goes, okay? Thanks.”
The Ravens head coach was never one to make juicy quotes, and this game was no exception.
