3 free agents Anthony Weaver needs to bring with him to the Ravens in 2026

Hopefully, he brings some help with him.

The most intriguing part of the coaching cycle is not always the culture shift that teams will see with new coaches at the helm. It’s the ensuing roster turnover. The Baltimore Ravens will see plenty of that this offseason.

The Ravens made one of the craziest moves of the cycle, firing 18-year head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh landed on his feet with the New York Giants, and in his place, Baltimore hired Jesse Minter. They will face plenty of competition from Harbaugh and the Giants in the fight to bring back many of their free agents. In the same way, Minter will be looking to bring many of his own with him to Baltimore, likely trying to lure players away from the Los Angeles Chargers.

The same can be said for coordinators. Most recently, the Ravens brought back Anthony Weaver to be the defensive coordinator under Minter. Minter will be the one calling the plays, but of course, Weaver will play a key factor in gameplanning and preparing his guys for gamedays. He will almost certainly want some of his former players on this year’s roster in Charm City. These three players could be perfect fits.

3 free agents who could rejoin Anthony Weaver’s side in 2026

Kader Kohou

The Ravens need cornerback help. Their secondary collapsed in 2025, and while much of that was due to a hilariously bad pass rush, they still need more talent there. Cornerback Kader Kohou could be a terrific rotational option.

Kohou missed all of 2025 with a partial ACL tear in his right knee. However, when healthy, he has been a consistently solid corner. He would be a slot guy for Baltimore, a spot that veteran corner Marlon Humphrey has occupied in recent years, but Humphrey took a significant step back last season. Kohou could bring more help in that area.

Sure, there’s a risk, as no one knows how Kohou will perform coming off a major injury. But it’s a risk worth taking. The Ravens need more help at corner, and Kohou would bring just that. Spotrac also projects him to earn a one-year contract worth just $2 million this offseason.

Jaelan Phillips

Outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips had a downyear statistically in 2025, but performed well with a change of scenery. He enjoyed a strong second half after being dealt to the Philadelphia Eagles at this year’s trade deadline. With Weaver, there’s a relationship there. And if he can use it to persuade Phillips to join the Ravens, it would be a HUGE addition.

Phillips only played 13 games under Weaver. In 2024, he appeared in four games before a torn ACL in Week 4 ended his season. In 2025, he was healthy, appearing in nine games, but got traded to the Eagles ahead of Week 10. In those contests, he totaled four sacks.

Across his career, though, Phillips has shown glimpses of being special. He began his NFL career with three straight seasons of recording at least 6.5 sacks. The ACL injury threw him off course over the past two years, and with another season of being fully recovered, the best could be ahead.

The Ravens can’t leave free agency without addressing their serious need for pass-rush help. Phillips would be an instant starter.

Calais Campbell

Defensive lineman Calais Campbell has crossed paths with Weaver a couple of times. While he spent time with the Arizona Cardinals in 2025, he was a part of Weaver’s defense with the Dolphins in 2024. It goes beyond that, though. The 18-year veteran was also coached by Weaver with the Ravens in 2021 and 2022, years in which Weaver was Baltimore’s defensive line coach.

Campbell is 39 years old. He may have played his last down in the NFL, as he’s mentioned he's contemplating retirement. However, he can still ball. In each of the past four seasons, he’s notched at least five sacks. Last season, that sack total was up to 6.5. If he plays one more year, a reunion in Baltimore could make sense.

With the uncertain future of defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike, the Ravens could use Campbell’s services. Even if Madubuike does suit up in 2026, there could still be a need for Campbell, as defensive lineman Broderick Washington Jr. is expected to be a cap casualty. Overall, the defensive front needs to be better, and Campbell would bring both pass rush and run defense help on the interior.
