The Baltimore Ravens are fresh off another early playoff exit. The Ravens' offense was often unstoppable, but if there’s one thing that could take it to the next level, it’s another elite weapon for Lamar Jackson. Zay Flowers is a rising star, and Rashod Bateman finally showed flashes, but adding a true X-receiver could put this unit over the top.
And now, thanks to a bombshell quarterback move, the Ravens might just have the perfect opportunity to land one.
The New York Jets have officially moved on from Aaron Rodgers, meaning the future of Davante Adams is suddenly up in the air. Adams has followed Rodgers from Green Bay to New York, but with Rodgers no longer in the picture, there’s no guarantee Adams will stick around. The Jets are entering another full reset with a new coaching staff and no clear answer at quarterback.
That makes the veteran wideout a prime trade candidate, and if Baltimore is serious about making a Super Bowl run, general manager Eric DeCosta needs to pick up the phone.
The Ravens were rumored to have interest in Adams when he wanted out of Las Vegas, but nothing ever materialized. Now, with his situation in flux once again, Baltimore has another chance to pounce. This isn’t just a move that would be nice to have—it’s a move that could finally get this team out of their playoff drought.
The Jets dropping Aaron Rodgers gives Ravens a perfect chance to grab Davante Adams
Baltimore already has the best quarterback in football. As Pro Football Focus’ Mason Cameron put it:
"The Ravens have needed more receiver help in the form of a difference-making X-receiver after finding success with Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman in recent campaigns. Despite being snubbed for the MVP, Lamar Jackson is producing as one of the best signal callers charted in the PFF era (since 2006)."
Adams may not be in his prime anymore, but he’s still an elite route-runner with incredible hands, something that would make life easier for Jackson in high-pressure situations. The 32-year-old finished last season with 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in just 14 games.
Even in what some consider a "down year," those numbers would have led Baltimore’s receiving corps. Imagine him alongside Flowers, Bateman, Mark Andrews, and Derrick Henry. Defenses would have no idea how to stop this unit.
The Ravens missed out on Adams this past trade deadline. They shouldn’t make the same mistake twice. With the Jets moving in a new direction, there’s a real possibility Adams is on the trade block. His contract isn’t cheap, but that's where contract restructures, extensions, and asking the Jets to retain salary come into play—if Baltimore wants him, they can get him.
This is the kind of trade that separates good teams from great ones. If the Ravens want to capitalize on Jackson’s prime and take another shot at a Super Bowl, landing Adams could be the move that finally puts them over the top.
