The NFL offseason is about to take flight. The trials and tribulations of the 2024-25 season are in the rearview mirror, and now, all eyes are on 2025-26. For the Baltimore Ravens, this offseason won’t be about massive overhauls—it’ll be about fine-tuning an already elite roster.
Baltimore is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, but championship teams don’t rest on their laurels. The Ravens will likely need to figure out life without stalwart left tackle Ronnie Stanley, replace cornerback Brandon Stephens, and find cost-effective ways to bolster their Super Bowl-caliber depth. With veteran players getting cut left and right for cap-saving purposes, the market is about to be flooded with high-end role players who could help Lamar Jackson finally capture that elusive Lombardi Trophy.
Big-name acquisitions like Green Bay Packers star corner Jaire Alexander or Las Vegas Raiders safety Tre’von Moehrig would certainly be splashy moves, but don’t sleep on the smaller, savvy signings. And if the Ravens want to add a proven, battle-tested winner to their defense, one name that could be an ideal fit just might hit the market.
Von Miller could be the best addition the Ravens make this offseason
In a recent article by Bradley Locker at PFF.com, Buffalo Bills linebacker/pass rusher Von Miller was identified as a potential cap casualty. Locker states:
"Considering that Miller is 36 years old, counts for over $23 million against the cap this year and could save roughly $8.4 million if cut, releasing the future Hall of Famer to get younger at edge rusher probably makes the most sense."
While Locker didn’t explicitly connect Miller to Baltimore, it’s impossible to ignore the fit. Miller may be entering the twilight of his career, but even at 36, he still knows how to disrupt an offense. His sack numbers have dipped in recent years, but his presence alone forces quarterbacks to speed up their process, and 129.5 career sacks is no joke. And in a Ravens defense that thrives on getting after the passer by committee, Miller’s experience and instincts could be invaluable.
Baltimore doesn’t need Miller to be a double-digit sack guy—they just need him to be a situational menace. He’d fit perfectly into defensive coordinator Zach Orr’s aggressive scheme, providing veteran leadership while still bringing the heat off the edge. Plus, the impact he could have on Baltimore’s young pass rushers is immeasurable. Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa benefitted from his mentorship in Buffalo, so imagine what he could do for Odafe Oweh and Adisa Isaac in Baltimore.
At the end of the day, Miller wouldn’t just be a luxury signing—he’d be a smart, calculated move to maximize the Ravens’ defensive firepower. Miller shouldn't command much on the open market. If he's cut, Baltimore should explore the opportunity to add a guy who should have been a Raven a long time ago.
