The Baltimore Ravens have made it through the first preseason of the Jesse Minter era. It was an exciting one, as countless players burned lasting memories into their coaches’ heads. As for the new coaching staff, they flat-out dominated.
With the fun over, though, it’s time for business. Very harsh business. No one likes roster cuts, but Baltimore will have to trim down their 90-man training camp roster to 53 players.
The coming hours will be absolutely brutal. Preseason stars will depart, and although many can make it back to the practice squad, not everyone is going to clear waivers. Simply put, the Ravens have some excruciating calls to make.
The team has already begun the process of sending players out the door. They traded defensive lineman C.J. Okoye to the New York Giants for a 2028 seventh-round pick. That’s one helpful way to conduct business ahead of roster cuts.
Unfortunately, Baltimore will also lose other players for nothing. They have several tight roster battles, and many preseason darlings won’t be wearing the purple and black in 2026.

Notable cuts and roster moves
Cornerback Robert Longerbeam was cut. The 2025 sixth-round pick was hoping to make an impact in his first healthy season, but failed to separate himself from the pack.
The Ravens sent Kaimon Rucker packing. He was in the running to make the roster as Baltimore's fifth pass rusher. Unfortunately, it was always clear he needed a miracle to make the team.
Baltimore traded offensive tackle Diego Pounds to the Kansas City Chiefs. Pounds was going to leave the team one way or another after a strong run in the preseason, so getting something for him is smart business. The return is interesting, though, as it could either be a 2027 day-three pick or 2028 day-three pick.
