The Baltimore Ravens are sticking with what works. Baltimore announced Friday that head coach John Harbaugh has signed a three-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2028 season.

Harbaugh, 62, is entering his 18th season as the Ravens’ head coach. He’s the longest-tenured coach in franchise history and the second-longest active head coach in the league behind only Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin.

Under Harbaugh, Baltimore has been one of the NFL’s most consistent teams. He holds a regular-season record of 172-104 and a postseason record of 13-11. He’s led the team to 12 playoff appearances, six AFC North titles, and a Super Bowl win in 2012. Impressive stuff.

John Harbaugh and the Ravens are locked in for three more years

The timing of the extension finally eliminates any and all questions heading into the final year of Harbaugh’s deal.

While the Ravens have fallen short in the postseason the last two years, including a loss to the Buffalo Bills in the 2024 Divisional Round, there’s no doubt the organization still views Harbaugh as the right leader to push them over the top.

Harbaugh’s 13 career playoff wins are tied for seventh all-time and tied for fourth most through a coach’s first 17 seasons. He also holds the NFL record for most road playoff wins by a head coach with eight.

Baltimore is coming off back-to-back division titles and will look to become the first team ever to three-peat in the AFC North in 2025. The Ravens remain in Super Bowl contention with MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson at the helm, and extending Harbaugh provides continuity at the top.

Harbaugh was asked about his future back in January and didn’t sound worried:

“I talk to Eric [DeCosta] every day. I talk to Steve [Bisciotti] every day – not every day,” Harbaugh said. “Steve wouldn’t talk to me every day. I talk to [president] Sashi [Brown] about every other day, but I’m happy, man… I’m fired up for it, and I’m not worried about those kinds of things. They take care of themselves.”

Now it has. Harbaugh is locked in, and so is Baltimore. Harbs is officially going for 20.
