Baltimore Ravens fans aren't ready for another contract situation revolving around star quarterback Lamar Jackson but it looks like that's what this offseason will consist of. As a result, other teams are going to be circling like vultures hoping that Jackson and the Ravens' issues get worse and worse and that they can swoop in and nab the two-time MVP.
One team that has to be loving all of this drama is the Philadelphia Eagles. NFL insider Jason La Canfora cited that the idea of Jackson landing with the Eagles isn't all that farfetched.
"Call me crazy, but if the Eagles are still looking to upgrade at QB after this season, I could see Howie Roseman inserting himself into this Lamar situation in a big deal. If Jackson isn’t extended by Week 1 they will be hanging a huge “Call Us About Our Quarterback After The Season” sign on the front of their franchise."
Baltimore Ravens may not like where Lamar Jackson drama is heading next
Ooh boy. This will certainly go over well, won't it?
On the one hand, it makes sense that the Eagles would be discussed as a landing spot for Jackson. Jalen Hurts, despite winning a Super Bowl two years ago and almost winning one four years ago, is in hot water in Philadelphia and it feels like a breakup between him and the Eagles could be on the horizon. Jackson would be the best possible upgrade for a Super Bowl-hungry team like the Eagles.
On the other hand, the Ravens know what a special talent Jackson is. While that hasn't translated to postseason success, it hasn't all been on Jackson. The hope is that with Jesse Minter taking over as head coach, the team can finally get over the hump that has eluded it since Jackson became the starting quarterback.
If what La Canfora is saying pans out, the Eagles would be looking to swoop in after the 2026 season wraps up and pry Jackson away from Baltimore. It's likely that Philadelphia wouldn't be the only interested team either.
Watching Jackson go to any other team would be tough but seeing him land in Philadelphia with all of that talent and coaching would be a particularly tough pill to swallow. He hasn't been able to lead the Ravens to the big game yet in his career and if he did so with the Eagles, that'd be even more painful.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that and the Ravens can get a deal worked out with their star signal-caller but if not, then buckle up, Ravens fans. It'll be a very bumpy ride.
