Baltimore Ravens fans have gone through a wide array of emotions over the past week. From the joy after initially acquiring Maxx Crosby, to the pain after learning the Ravens backed out of the trade, to the newfound excitement of the eventual agreement with free agent Trey Hendrickson.

Amid the craziness between the Crosby and Hendrickson news, it was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Hendrickson had the expectation that he would be coming to Charm City alongside Crosby. General manager Eric DeCosta confirmed this, noting the plan was to form an elite pass rush duo between the two before the Crosby deal was nixed due to knee concerns.

If the plan remains to build a fearsome pass rush, there could still be another strong option on the trade market: Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Jonathan Greenard.

Baltimore Ravens could find elite pass rush duo if they go after Jonathan Greenard

Yes, the Ravens have 2025 second-round pick Mike Green opposite of Hendrickson right now, and he showed promise in his rookie year. However, you can never have too many pass rushers. If Baltimore were to stay aggressive for a player like Greenard on the trade market, it would not only create a dynamic Batman and Robin duo but also an elite trio.

ESPN’s Benjamin Solak floated the possibility out there.

The Vikings could look to trade Greenard this offseason. He has two years left on his deal, but Minnesota is looking to create cap space, and Greenard has been a prime candidate to create said space. A trade pre-June 1 would create just over $12 million in cap, and post-June 1, it would create nearly $19 million. If they get desperate for money, Eric DeCosta should definitely push to acquire him.

Greenard carries a cap hit of $22.15 million in 2026, but Baltimore has room to take on that contract. After restructuring quarterback Lamar Jackson’s deal, they freed up around $40 million. Pending agreements with Hendrickson and John Simpson will diminish some of that money, but they should have plenty of space to swing for a potential Greenard addition if they deem it necessary.

In 2025, Greenard had just three sacks in 12 games. However, from 2023 to 2024, he was one of the best edge rushers in the NFL with 24.5 total sacks between the two seasons. With a fully healthy campaign and players like Hendrickson and Green playing alongside him, Greenard would have a perfect opportunity to bounce back if he landed in Charm City.

Maybe it’s too aggressive, but the Ravens reportedly showed willingness to go all-in on their pass rush. It makes sense, as they tallied just 30 sacks last year, and if that aggression remains, Greenard could be the next best thing.
