The Baltimore Ravens’ list of injuries ahead of their Week 5 matchup with the Houston Texans still looks grim. While players like Kyle Van Noy and Nate Wiggins have returned and are expected to see playing time, other key stars have missed practice over the past few days.
The lengthy list includes Lamar Jackson (hamstring), Patrick Ricard (calf), Odafe Oweh (eye), Roquan Smith (hamstring), Marlon Humphrey (calf), Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring), and Kyle Hamilton (groin). Additionally, they will continue to search for answers along the interior defensive line with Nnamdi Madubuike and Broderick Washington on injured reserve.

It is a long list, but the report officially confirms that Jackson, Smith, Humphrey, and even Awuzie will be out in Week 5. The statuses of Oweh and Hamilton are also alarming, especially given the depth and lack of production at each of their position groups.
Ravens still without several starters in Friday’s practice
Baltimore’s pass rush has struggled mightily through four weeks. They have tallied just four sacks thus far, a mark that is tied for second-worst in the NFL. Two of those sacks came from Madubuike, who is out for the season with a neck injury. The other two sacks came from Tavius Robinson, who may be the only proven edge defender a full-go on Sunday if Van Noy is limited and Oweh cannot go. Rookie Mike Green and 2023 second-round pick David Ojabo could see their heaviest workloads of the year.
At cornerback, the Ravens could be in serious trouble. Humphrey and Awuzie will not play, which puts a world of pressure on the shoulders of young corners Keyon Martin and T.J. Tampa. Veteran Jaire Alexander could also see the field for the first time since Week 1, but that will likely be a game-time decision as it has been in past weeks.
The biggest question mark surrounds Hamilton’s health. With Smith out, Hamilton would be next in line to take the green dot, but he missed Thursday’s and Friday’s practice and was limited on Wednesday. He is listed as questionable, and even if he does suit up, it is fair to be concerned about how much he could really contribute against Houston. Second-year safety Sanoussi Kane and undrafted rookie Reuben Lowery could see career-highs in snaps as a result.
Somehow, Baltimore’s injury situation keeps getting worse, especially on the defensive side. The offense, outside of Jackson, is relatively unscathed. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley has been dealing with an ankle injury and is questionable, but seems to be on the right track heading into the weekend. If their running game can get going and Cooper Rush finds a rhythm with the team’s deep arsenal of weapons, the Ravens could still have a shot on Sunday.
