Derrick Henry just made history... again. We know that's not entirely shocking. But while most running backs get pushed out of the league by 30, Derrick Henry just cashed in on another deal... again.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a two-year, $30 million extension with Henry that includes $25 million fully guaranteed. It’s the most guaranteed money ever given to a running back over 30. Not bad for someone who was labeled “washed” not too long ago.

This deal isn’t just a reward for what Henry did in 2024—it’s a bet that he’s not done. The Ravens watched him carry the offense, steamroll defenses, and help Lamar Jackson unlock a truly remarkable season. Now they’re doubling down on that formula.

Derrick Henry is rewriting the rules of running back value

Henry’s first year in Baltimore wasn’t just good—it was one of the best of his career. He rushed for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns, led the league in rushing touchdowns, and averaged nearly six yards per carry. He set a franchise playoff record with 186 yards and two scores in a Wild Card win. And Pro Football Focus gave him the highest rushing grade ever recorded since 2006.

At 30 years old, Henry was supposed to be on the decline. Instead, he turned back the clock and helped the Ravens set records for total offense, becoming the first team in NFL history with 4,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in the same season.

This extension is a signal. Baltimore isn’t afraid of the age curve. Not when the player is as rare as King Henry. They’ve already paid their quarterback. They’ve already locked up core defensive stars. Now, they’re locking in the bulldozer of their offense for two more seasons.

Sure, there’s risk. But there’s also history—Henry’s kind of history. His 2024 campaign landed him among the all-time greats in efficiency and impact. And this extension? It doesn’t just give him a raise—it cements his place in Baltimore’s future.

For a player who keeps defying expectations, this deal is just the latest reminder: when it comes to Derrick Henry, age is irrelevant. Production is everything. And right now, there's only one other running back close to Henry... and he also just got paid.
