The Baltimore Ravens' Week 5 game against the Houston Texans was one to forget. Outside of a competitive first quarter that saw the two teams trade scoring drives, it quickly got out of hand for Baltimore. Injuries played a factor, but it was the worst the Ravens had looked all season, especially for the offense.
There was one player who reached a career mark, though. Running back Derrick Henry found the end zone with a little under three minutes left in the third quarter, making it 34-10. That meaningless score did have a career-impact, as Henry tied the Chicago Bears’ all-time great running back Walter Payton for the fifth-most rushing touchdowns in NFL history with 110.
Like most of the team, it was a troubling day for Henry. He only saw 15 carries for 33 yards, on a day the Ravens only scored 10 points. Still, he continues to brush off his Hall of Fame resume with another career-defining achievement.
Derrick Henry ties Walter Payton in all-time rushing touchdowns
Henry is undoubtedly one of the greatest running backs to ever grace a football field. Despite a slow start to 2025, the career statistics continue to build up. He now sits 10 rushing touchdowns behind Arian Peterson for fourth place and 13 behind Marcus Allen for third. His race to join the top two all-time is likely out of reach, as he needs 35 to tie LaDainian Tomlinson for second and 54 off of Emmitt Smith’s record of 164.
Henry also inched closer to the total touchdown list. He now has 115 scores, moving him one touchdown away from tying John Riggins and Antonio Gates for 14th all-time. If he wants to reach the top 10 this season, he will need to score 11 touchdowns in the 12 remaining weeks of the 2025 campaign.
Despite Henry’s slow start, he tends to get better as the season goes along. His conditioning is second to none, and if that continues this year, Henry should continue to shatter records in the near future.
