The Baltimore Ravens are already having a successful offseason. In the eyes of many, they are quickly emerging as big winners. They fired John Harbaugh after a horrendous 2025 season and an ugly stretch of coming up short year after year. In his place, they hired an up-and-coming coach, Jesse Minter.
While the Ravens are taking steps forward, and Minter is building a strong coaching staff, their division rivals have made some questionable decisions. The Cincinnati Bengals decided to stick with Zac Taylor as their head coach, the Pittsburgh Steelers hired Mike McCarthy to replace Mike Tomlin, and the Cleveland Browns replaced Kevin Stefanski with Todd Monken.
Each of those moves was a polarizing choice. Safe to say, Baltimore may be making its way back into the driver’s seat in the AFC North. They’ll have to continue to win in free agency and the draft, though. Their roster needs plenty of changes.
The Ravens tend to dominate the draft more often than not. It’s how they’ve built consistently competitive rosters. In the 2026 NFL Draft, they’ll be looking to outdraft their rivals. If some of the selections in a recent mock draft come true, they could do just that.
In his latest mock draft, Cody Williams of FanSided has the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss with the 21st pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Williams wrote:
“For many of Mike McCarthy's faults, his ability [to] develop QBs should never be in question. With Chambliss' gifts and already established strengths as a dual-threat player with a strong arm, he could be the reason that Pittsburgh actually enters a new era for the franchise post-Tomlin.”
Ravens fans would laugh if the Steelers draft Trinidad Chambliss
First off, Chambliss is a fantastic player. The thought process with the selection certainly makes some sense. Chambliss wowed in the College Football Playoff and finished his first season at Ole Miss, completing 66.1% of passes for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also ran for 527 yards and eight touchdowns. He revealed himself as a certified playmaker, but remains a high-risk choice.
Chambliss has only spent one season in Division I football. He played four seasons at Ferris State, a Division II school. He was a top player there, but that lack of experience playing against the best of the best adds to the risk factor. Furthermore, he would be 24 years old by the time the 2026 season kicks off.
This year’s quarterback class is incredibly weak. Selecting Chambliss in the first round could be seen as a panic pick, much like what the Steelers did in the 2022 NFL Draft when they selected quarterback Kenny Pickett with the 20th pick. If a similar scenario ends up playing out, Ravens fans would be ecstatic.
