Ravens fans can’t believe how badly Browns are unraveling after draft blunder

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse...

It’s almost like the Cleveland Browns can’t help themselves. Just when you think they’ve outdone their usual dysfunction by drafting Dillon Gabriel 94th overall (only to select Shedeur Sanders two rounds later)—a move that turned every Baltimore Ravens fan into a draft expert overnight—they go and do something even crazier.

Fresh off one of the biggest reaches of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Browns are now bringing in none other than Diontae Johnson for a visit per Jordan Schultz. Oh yes, Diontae Johnson—the same wide receiver who torched bridges in Pittsburgh, flamed out spectacularly in Baltimore, and couldn’t even hang onto a roster spot in Houston for more than a month during the playoffs.

After swinging wildly on a developmental quarterback who probably won’t sniff the starting job anytime soon—if ever—Cleveland’s master plan apparently involves adding a receiver whose biggest highlight last year was refusing to play against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ravens fans, you really can’t make this stuff up.

Browns proving again they can’t get out of their own way with Diontae Johnson signing

Update: Browns have signed Diontae Johnson per Mike Garafolo.

It’s hard not to laugh when you lay it all out there. The Browns spent a valuable third-round pick on Dillon Gabriel, a guy projected closer to the sixth round while passing on better quarterback options still on the board. Two rounds later, they drafted Sanders anyway, essentially admitting the Gabriel pick was a mistake before Gabriel even got to rookie minicamp.

Now they’re looking at Johnson, who gave the Ravens one catch, six yards, and a suspension before getting released. Johnson’s reputation as a locker-room headache followed him from Baltimore to Houston, where he managed just three catches before getting cut during the Texans’ playoff run. When a team desperate for receiver depth would rather go shorthanded into the Divisional Round than keep you around, that’s a giant red flag.

The Browns are basically holding up a neon sign that says “We still don’t get it.” They needed to add stability this offseason, especially after Watson’s injury and the quarterback carousel that followed. Instead, they’re taking fliers on players with more baggage than production and hoping for the best.

Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta already came out and said it was a mistake to trade for Johnson. Apparently Browns GM Andrew Berry didn't get the message and could now hilariously and knowingly fall into the same trap.

Ravens fans have seen this story before—and they already know how it ends. Cleveland’s big moves this offseason aren’t closing the gap with Baltimore... or anyone. If anything, they’re just giving Flock Nation even more reason to sit back and enjoy the show. How do you like your popcorn?
