The Baltimore Ravens will be looking to shift the momentum of the AFC North back in their favor in 2026. They were abysmal last season and lost the division crown to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the last day of the regular season.

The Ravens are headed in an aggressive direction this offseason after firing John Harbaugh and hiring Jesse Minter. In the same way, the Steelers have started a new era with the hiring of Mike McCarthy. It’s fair to expect that it’ll be a two-way race between the rivals next year.

That race will not only occur throughout the regular season, but also in the coming offseason. They may be frantic to improve their roster in the coming months. According to Clark Dalton on Yardbarker, wide receiver Stefon Diggs could be an option for Baltimore and Pittsburgh. For the Steelers, it could be a ticking time bomb like move.

“Pairing Diggs with WR DK Metcalf is risky for the Steelers. Both are considered mercurial, which could create tension within the locker room.”

“Diggs would give the Steelers a legit No. 1 WR that could kick-start their passing offense, which ranked 22nd in the league in passing yards last season (198.2 yards per game). The WR has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards seven times in his 11-year career. Last season, he had 1,013 receiving yards in 17 regular-season games.”

Ravens could watch Steelers make chaotic Stefon Diggs move this offseason

The Ravens were also listed as a landing spot for Diggs in that article, but that duo of DK Metcalf and Diggs could cause a lot more problems. We saw how Metcalf’s sideline argument almost cost Pittsburgh their season last year, and Diggs brings off-the-field concerns. Sure, it could pay off, but it could also seriously blow up in their face.

Diggs is still a playmaker. He recovered well from an ACL tear in 2024, totaling over 1,000 yards for the seventh time in his 11-year career. His lone season with the New England Patriots also resulted in a Super Bowl appearance.

New England cut Diggs due to his hefty contract. His cap hit was sitting at $26.5 million for the 2026 season, and they saved $16.8 million in cap, while also inheriting $9.7 million in dead cap with his release. However, it’s fair to assume that the drama that came with Diggs’ play could’ve also been a factor in the decision.

Whoever signs the four-time Pro Bowler next is taking a serious risk. He's still a great football player, but he tends to cause problems and burn bridges. He grew unhappy with the Minnesota Vikings, and things ran sour during his time with the Buffalo Bills. The root cause? Not getting the ball enough (in his opinion, at least). If he were to land in Pittsburgh, there's a nonzero chance those tensions could rise again, and the Ravens certainly wouldn't mind that.

While Ravens fans wouldn’t necessarily like to face Diggs two times a year, he went for nine receptions and 138 yards in their Week 16 loss to the Patriots, but there may also be a trap awaiting Pittsburgh if they were to sign him. Adding a player with off-the-field concerns to pair with Metcalf could make things go haywire, and Ravens fans would welcome that.
