The Baltimore Ravens’ intentions in 2026 are clear. They want a lot more energy. Their coaching hires made that pretty obvious, and as they transition to a new era, they’re looking to enforce a much-needed tone shift.
Perhaps no person embodies the influx of energy better than Anthony Weaver. He’s the type of guy who’ll have you ready to run through a brick wall. The Ravens’ defense desperately needed his leadership style back in the building, and through the first day of minicamp, it seems like the players are feeding off his passion for the game like a frenzy of sharks.
One player in particular who feels like the perfect match under Weaver is Zion Young. The second-round rookie has been a constant factor in practices thus far. In minicamp, he’s continued to flash a vicious edge with Jesse Minter even saying they’ve had to tone him down.
Ravens HC Jesse Minter said Zion Young is really eager to do things right. He said he has swagger and edge and they almost have to tone him down right now because of the rules of how practice can go right now.

Baltimore Ravens’ newcomer is unleashing a fire that is making him hard to miss
Zion Young has been a standout all offseason, and that early success shouldn’t be much of a shock at all. Being the new guy in the room is never easy, but when you display the competitive fire that he does in literally every waking moment, you’re going to be hard to miss. Undoubtedly, it’s helped him quickly win over players and coaches.
To put it simply, it doesn’t seem like Young has an off switch. His refusal to take his foot off the gas was clear during his time at Missouri, and he’s continued to showcase that early in his NFL career. Honestly, if you look up ‘relentless’ in the dictionary, you might see a picture of Young’s face at this point.
That play is inspiring. On the defensive front, you have a bunch of fierce players with one common goal: to make the opposition regret taking the field. When you have a player like Young running at a million miles a minute, teammates are going to feed off of that energy. And he’s just a rookie! That's an even bigger motivator. If an unproven player can move the way he does, why can’t a proven veteran?
The intensity that Young exhibits will sharpen the offense in practice, too. He already had a bit of an altercation with second-year offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr. during Tuesday’s outing at minicamp, but that’s a great thing. He’s lighting a fire under guys, which the Ravens need more of.
Overall, the sky might be the limit for Young. He's proving that he'll do whatever it takes to achieve greatness in the league. That’s not only a winning formula for himself, but also the ones around him. With Young on the team, there’s another key piece for success that might be falling into place in Baltimore.
