After another terrible loss that dropped them to 4-5, the Baltimore Ravens may sell at the trade deadline. Thursday night was the team’s last audition before Tuesday’s deadline, and they looked horrific. As a result, the rest of the NFL may ring Eric DeCosta’s line.
Apparently, that includes Justice Hill. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the New York Giants showed interest in Hill.
How many former players does John Harbaugh need? The Giants' head coach acquired countless former Ravens in the offseason. Hill could join that list.
Baltimore shouldn’t even entertain the possibility of trading Hill, though. While the veteran running back is only a backup, he’s way too important to lose. He’s an underrated piece who should be extended, not traded.
Baltimore Ravens shouldn’t trade Justice Hill
New York’s interest in Justice Hill makes sense. They’ve struggled to find a lead rusher in 2026, and although Cam Skattebo appears to be revealing himself as that, the Giants also lost their best pass-catching back, Tyrone Tracy Jr., to injured reserve. A guy like Hill could fill that void.
And of course, Hill’s relationship with John Harbaugh is a bonus.
For Baltimore, Hill has one year left on his deal. If the Ravens don’t see a future with him, it’d be wise to get a pick for him in what appears to be a lost season. However, Hill must have a future in Charm City beyond 2026.
The 28-year-old has been a trusted back since 2019. He’s never been the workhorse, but he’s the do-it-all guy offensive coordinators can always rely on. You don’t trade him.
Change-of-pace rusher who can provide explosive plays? Check.
Hill possesses breakaway speed. He can sweep the edge, explode through the line of scrimmage, and gash defenses for 10+ yard gains. In 2026, he’s averaging 7.3 yards per carry, has three 20+-yard runs, and two 40+-yard runs. He’s the perfect man to come off the bench and keep defenses off balance.
Exceptional receiving skills that add another dimension to the passing game? Check.
Over the last four years, Hill has developed into a security blanket for Baltimore’s quarterbacks. He’s totaled 136 receptions throughout his career and 20 receptions for 111 yards this year. He’s a dangerous screen threat and acts as a steady hot read. That’s valuable.
Ultra-reliable pass protection for a running back? Check again.
When a free blitzer fires in, that’s Hill’s guy to block. The Ravens can trust him to pick up those defenders. More importantly, though, the Ravens’ offensive line has looked flat-out horrendous in 2026. Because of that, Hill is often asked to do his best to keep passing plays alive, and he usually does a tremendous job.
Heck, Hill also gets it done on special teams.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a close game or a blowout, Hill will give it 110% on every play. We saw it Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he scored Baltimore’s only touchdown of the night on a 65-yard score.
65-yard touchdown for Justice Hill!

That’s the type of player you want on your sideline. Eric DeCosta should hang up the phone if anyone comes calling for Justice Hill.
