Ravens' hot draft start earns the Lamar Jackson stamp of approval

The Ravens are having a great draft, and Lamar knows it.

By all accounts, the Baltimore Ravens had a fantastic first two days of the draft. Vega Ioane fills the team's biggest need (interior offensive line), they bolstered their pass rush with Zion Young, and added a high-upside pass catcher with Ja'Kobi Lane. These picks earned the stamp of approval from Lamar Jackson.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, who asked him to focus on his new teammates, Lamar replied with, "Self explanatory, do you see our draft picks so far" followed by five fire emojis.

Now, this tweet was before the Ravens selected Lane, but I'm sure Jackson is thrilled to have another pass catcher, especially one with Lane's physical gifts. Undoubtedly, drafting Ioane and Lane will significantly benefit Lamar, and his tweet mirror how the fan base feels.

It's easy to see why Lamar Jackson is happy with the Baltimore Ravens' draft

Last season, the Ravens' lack of pass protection was a massive issue. Despite playing in 13 games, Jackson was sacked 36 times. Likewise, his poor protection contributed to his injury issues. Much of the root cause was the struggles of the guard pairing of Daniel Faalele and Andrew Vorhees.

Jackson will certainly be thrilled to get some reliable protection, and that's exactly what Ioane brings to the table. In 311 snaps last year, Ioane didn't allow a single sack.

After being drafted, Ioane said, "Nobody is going to touch my quarterback. Simple as that.” These comments should only add to Jackson's excitement

Lane gives Jackson a receiver with elite size (6-foot-4) and physicality. This is an element Baltimore's receiving core has lacked in recent years. Again, Jackson's tweet was before the Ravens picked Lane, but it's fair to assume that Lamar is pumped to get a big-bodied weapon.

Young won't affect Jackson as closely. Nevertheless, Lamar surely understands that the front seven needed to improve even after adding Trey Hendrickson, and Young should provide an immediate impact, especially as a run stopper.

Eric DeCosta mentioned that he got a "barrage of text messages" after drafting Young, especially noting Nate Wiggins' excitement. Thus, it's clear that Lamar is far from the only Raven who approves of the team's draft so far -- and it's easy to see why.

Ultimately, the Ravens knocked the first two days of the draft out of the park, and it's great to see that Lamar is in lockstep with the organization. Within all likelihood, the Ravens will draft a center and tight end on the final day of the draft -- something that should further put a smile on Jackson's face.
