Ravens' Lamar Jackson lands atop a list no QB wants to be on

The Baltimore Ravens’ offensive line has caused significant issues for the team’s offense in 2025. Sacks have come in bunches, the rushing attack has failed to do consistent damage, and most notably, it has put the health of their star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, at risk.

Through 13 weeks, Jackson ranks tied for seventh-most in sacks taken with 27. While he is known for escaping sacks, that has not been the case in 2025.

Part of that can be chalked up to injuries, as he has been playing injured for the past few weeks. Still, when he has been healthy, the escape lanes have not been there for him this year. One player who gives him relentless problems is Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

Garrett sacked Jackson four times in Baltimore’s Week 11 win over the Browns. Through 15 matchups between the two, Garrett has an unreal 12 sacks on Jackson.

Lamar Jackson can’t escape Myles Garrett

In a recently released article on Dawg Pound Daily, Adam Fromal took a deep dive into Garrett’s sack totals against quarterbacks across the NFL. Jackson’s 12 sacks taken tie him at the top of Garrett’s “quarterback graveyard,” with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Formal dove deeper, though. It is not just the sack category that Jackson has the great misfortune of leading; he also leads in sack yards lost with -83 yards. That is nine more yards lost than Burrow’s -74 yards on 12 sacks.

Thankfully for Jackson, the most yards he has lost on a single sack has been 10, which came this year. That is not another statistical category he leads. That stat ranks behind 10 of Garrett’s sacks, including his wrap-up of Burrow in 2020, which forced a 22-yard loss.

In most cases, Jackson can avoid some of the best edge rushers in the league. He has made some memorable highlight plays on those occasions, miraculously staying on his feet and making a big-time completion or run. For Garrett, though, he possesses the speed, strength, and relentless motor that it takes to bring Jackson down in the backfield. Unfortunately, it translates into sacks more often than Ravens fans would like to see.

In a year in which he is taking hit after hit, Jackson sure does not like to hear these sack numbers. With matchups against Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt, Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson, and Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons lying ahead, life will not get any easier. But hey, at least he can say he will not have to face Garrett again in 2025.
