The Baltimore Ravens looked like a new team in their victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Yes, some agonizing discipline errors remained, but they left the fourth-quarter woes behind.
In fact, Baltimore actually played their best ball in the fourth quarter and overtime. Finally.
After years of being snake-bitten in those moments, years that leaked into the first four weeks of the 2026 campaign, the Ravens flipped the script on Sunday Night Football. Tyler Huntley led an effective offense, and the defense made plays when needed.
Week 5 may have been the moment for Baltimore to turn the page on the late-game issues that have plagued them for far too long.
Baltimore Ravens looked like a team ready for the spotlight in Week 5
The second half hasn’t been kind to the Ravens over the past several seasons. Under John Harbaugh, the team blew 17 double-digit second-half leads, 10 coming in the fourth quarter.
In the first four weeks of the Jesse Minter era, much of that unfortunately looked the same. Week 1 was exciting, but the next three weeks had fans’ hearts in their throats.
Baltimore blew it against the New Orleans Saints, would’ve blown it against the Dallas Cowboys if not for a seven-second miracle, and had a fourth-quarter scare in their win over the Tennessee Titans.
Week 5 was a complete 180. And it was a statement.
Kyle Hamilton spoke about this kind of win means to the team in his postgame press conference.
"Over the past few years, that's a game that we lost many times," Hamilton said. "That was us getting over some sort of dark cloud. I'm excited for the future."
Tyler Huntley led the way in this comeback. After a questionable start, the second half was his shining moment. Between the second half and overtime, he completed 13-of-14 passes, and totaled 103 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was pretty much perfect.
Minter’s defense finally picked up the slack, too. Don’t get me wrong, they could’ve played way better; they allowed Atlanta to go 9-for-17 on third downs, including conversions on several third-and-longs. They came up big on the final few drives, though.
The defense kept Baltimore within striking range late in the fourth quarter. They definitely should’ve forced a punt, but a Nick Folk field goal kept it an 8-point game, and well, you know the rest of the story. One more stop with less than a minute to go was good enough to force overtime.
And in overtime, Hamilton earned his payday. Once again, it looked like the sky was falling after a 20-yard completion to Drake London; fortunately, Hamilton stepped in the way of another pass intended for London on the very next play. His game-sealing interception was the play you want to see from your superstar.
The old Ravens wouldn’t have done this. They would’ve found a way to fumble this game down the stretch. Maybe we’re finally immersed in the Jesse Minter era. With the way they performed on Sunday night, things could be changing for the better.
