The Baltimore Ravens have addressed their offensive line. On Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported they made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick. In return, Philadelphia received a 2027 fifth-rounder and a 2028 second-rounder.

That’s a lot for Cam Jurgens. He’s had an extremely rough first four weeks of the 2026 campaign.

Still, Baltimore needed to get aggressive. Their offensive front was in shambles after three centers landed on IR, and Andrew Vorhees suffered a foot injury in Week 4. In Jurgens, they get an experienced starter with two Pro Bowls to his name.

And while he’s struggled at guard this year, Jurgens is widely expected to shift back over to his natural position at center. That’s where he’s been most effective, and that’s the version of him the Ravens will hope to get.

Baltimore Ravens add much-needed offensive line help by trading for Cam Jurgens

The Ravens desperately lacked offensive line depth, especially at center. They lost Tyler Linderbaum in free agency, and signed three guys to fill the void: Danny Pinter, Jovaughn Gwyn, and Ethan Pocic. All three are on IR now, and their injuries will be long-term.

In steps Cam Jurgens. He has 45 career starts to his name, and at his best, he was one of the better up-and-coming centers in football.

Unfortunately, he’s playing at his worst right now. According to Pro Football Focus, he has a 38.7 overall grade, which ranks 73rd among 74 qualifying guards. He’s also given up 12 pressures, 1 sack, and has been flagged 4 times.

He’s been playing out of position, though. Guard clearly isn’t for him. Both of his Pro Bowls came at center.

The 27-year-old was also dealing with a back injury for about a year. He suffered a herniated disc late in 2024, which lingered throughout the 2025 campaign. Luckily, Jurgens said the back injury was finally behind him in 2026. Maybe a move back to center is all he needs to return to his Pro Bowl form.

He could be the center this team was lacking. Last Sunday, the Ravens started rookie Vega Ioane at center. Don’t get me wrong, he did exceptionally well; however, that’s not his position. Baltimore drafted him to be an uber-talented guard, and that’s still the plan for him.

With the Jurgens trade, that experiment shouldn’t last much longer. Jurgens is currently in concussion protocol and isn’t expected to play in Week 5. Long-term, though, Jurgens should be the team’s answer at center.

Giving up a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick is a lot for the level Jurgens has been playing at, but given the desperate need for a center and Jurgens’ ceiling, this was the type of aggressive move that needed to happen.
