The Baltimore Ravens are making their move at quarterback. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Baltimore is finalizing a trade for Jacoby Brissett. The deal is expected to be completed over the weekend.

Brissett will arrive as an established veteran. He’s been a solid backup throughout his 11-year career and has made 73 career starts. He was a bridge starter for the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Arizona Cardinals.

After losing his job to Gardner Minshew in Week 8 and getting booted to QB3, Brissett became an obvious trade candidate for the Ravens. The price was likely low, too, although it's unknown what the Ravens gave up.

For a team that’s lost both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley to injuries, an experienced quarterback like Brissett could give Baltimore some level of certainty, as he'll likely take over as the QB1 in Week 10.

Baltimore Ravens land obvious QB fit in Jacoby Brissett

The Ravens needed to make a move at quarterback. Joe Fagnano will make his first career NFL start on Thursday, but as an undrafted rookie, the organization may be hesitant about him leading the way. Jacoby Brissett could help keep Baltimore’s season above water while Lamar Jackson is on IR.

Brissett comes in with a relationship already in the Ravens’ building. The team’s QB coach, Israel Woolfork, was the QB coach in Arizona from 2023 to 2025. He coached Brissett for one of those seasons.

Brissett is a solid quarterback. You can’t put overly high expectations on him. However, he can sling it who can lead a competent passing attack.

Over the course of his career, Brissett has completed 62.1% of his passes with 86 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. This year, he’s completed 63.3% of passes for 1,719 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.

And despite the Ravens’ atrocious offensive line, poor pass protection is nothing new for Brissett. According to Pro Football Focus, Arizona’s offensive line ranks 30th in the league. Baltimore’s unit ranks 28th.

Most importantly, Brissett possesses the arm strength to keep defenses honest. It's regressed with age and he can be erratic, but at 6-foot-4, he can still push the ball downfield if given the time, which is something the Ravens lacked even under Tyler Huntley. In a perfect world, that opens things up for Derrick Henry and the rushing attack.

Even with a decent passer like Brissett, Baltimore should still rely on Henry. The 34-year-old Brissett can certainly get the ball to playmakers like Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, but he’s not dangerous enough to win games with his arm on his own. The offense needs to be heavily run-focused.

Still, Brissett can let a rip when he needs to. He has the arm to keep the offense rolling, and the poise and toughness to withstand pressure. It should prove to be a solid fit.
