When the Baltimore Ravens sent shockwaves through the football world by firing head coach John Harbaugh, reactions came flooding in.
Whether or not you agreed with the firing, one thing has to be fairly agreeable, here: Harbaugh was a stand-up human being. And, even though reports suggest that he lost the locker room, I don't think that takes away from who he is at his core.
Cornerback Marlon Humphrey took to social media to give his simple reaction after the firing:
"John Harbaugh. A good man."
That sums it up. Again, whether or not you agreed with the firing, Humphrey hits the nail on the head here. And, his respect and affinity for coach Harbaugh might help him find a new home, too, if the Ravens indeed decide to move on this offseason.
Marlon Humphrey could follow John Harbaugh to his next team after a Ravens breakup
There is a lot of speculation as to whether the Ravens will wind up cutting or trading Humphrey this offseason, especially after how his game has become so inconsistent over the latter half of his career. Giving up chunk plays has become something we see on the regular, despite us seeing some great individual plays here and there, as well.
Humphrey's cap number skyrockets to over $26 million in 2026 and the Ravens would save $8 million by cutting him. But, maybe they find a trade partner.
Where will Harbaugh land? Will Humphrey follow?
There's no telling, still, how many head coaching vacancies there truly are. After a firing like this one, there will surely be plenty of other teams questioning whether or not to stick with their current head coach or take a chance and part ways while in pursuit of Harbaugh.
One of those teams might be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Todd Bowles. With Tampa having so many pieces in place and, specifically, the quarterback, he could make sense there if the Bucs finally opted to let go of Bowles.
And, Humphrey following Harbaugh to Tampa Bay makes sense. The Bucs were one of the league's worst pass defenses last season giving up over 238 yards through the air, per game, good for sixth-worst.
Now, this is just one hypothetical situation. There are, of course, other vacancies out there. Harbaugh is going to be highly-sought after. But, knowing the relationship he and Humphrey have and the mutual respect, it makes a ton of sense for the two to reunite in the near future.
