Marlon Humphrey uses Jedi mind tricks to hold onto his second INT on MNF
By Matt Sidney
The first half of Monday Night Football featuring the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been electric.
In a primetime showdown between two Super Bowl contenders, the Baltimore Ravens traveled to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Ravens boast two potential MVP candidates in quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry. Meanwhile, the Bucs have their own MVP hopeful leading the charge in quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Speaking of Mayfield, the fiery gunslinger came into the game leading the league in touchdown passes with 15, while also tossing five interceptions.
Marlon Humphrey has Baker Mayfield's number on MNF
Unfortunately for the Bucs QB, the turnover bug got the best of him, and he threw two interceptions in the first half - both to Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey. His first interception came early on in the second quarter, ending a drive that could have extended the Bucs' 10-7 lead on the Ravens.
Instead, Humphrey came out of nowhere and made a touchdown-saving INT to stop the drive and give Baltimore the ball. Lamar Jackson led the Ravens down the field in 4 plays, for 80 yards and took the lead 14-10.
Late in the second quarter, Baker and the Bucs looked to shake off the first interception and failed scoring attempt with a long drive and score. Things didn't go according to plan, and Mayfield threw his second interception in three throws.
The culprit? Marlon Humphrey.
While the first Humphrey interception was strategic and sound coverage, the second one was just bonkers-level concentration and elite skill.
The interception was an insane coordination drill by Humphrey. The corner leaped through the air, and took on contact with fellow Raven Nate Wiggins while juggling the ball on the way down, pinning it to his shoulder to come up with his second INT of the night.
The timing of the interception couldn't have come at a better time. The Bucs were about to drive down the field and score to put them up before halftime. The former All-Pro shut that down real quick with one of the more memorable interceptions you'll see.
The acrobatics to keep the ball off the ground were next-level.
Unfortunately, Humphrey needed to head to the locker room after the pick. He was ruled questionable to return following the knee injury.
The two interceptions on Monday night give Humphrey four on the season, which leads the team.
