Throughout the entirety of Lamar Jackson's tenure, the Baltimore Ravens have struggled to bring in a very deep array of pass-catchers, especially at the wide receiver position. The free agent market is starting to get a bit thin on the ground, but a trade might give this team the kick in the rear end they need.

The Ravens may need to call the New England Patriots about a possible trade, as the trade for A.J. Brown, signing of Romeo Doubs in free agency, and the continued development of Kyle Williams in free agency, former sixth-round pick Kayshon Boutte has now reached a point where he could be angling for a move elsewhere.

Even Patriots beat writer Taylor Kyles said that it doesn't make sense for Boutte to stay with the Patriots long-term, citing the fact that the best-case scenario for him when everyone is healthy is the No. 3 wide receiver role. A move seems to be coming, and the Ravens would be wise to jump to the front of the line.

Baltimore Ravens should consider trade for Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte

Boutte has recorded 589 yards and 551 yards in each of the last two seasons. The first year came as a higher volume option on a bad Patriots team, and the latter was the result of a more defined vertical role on a contender. The latter role might be what Boutte ends up filling on a Ravens team that still lacks great downfield boundary talent.

With just one year left on his contract, Boutte can be had for relatively cheap. In a wide receiver market that is starting to explode both in the trade and free agent market, any other upgrade of note Baltimore would try to make would cost them a pretty penny, while this is a bit more equitable as far as compensation is concerned.

Boutte could legitimately earn WR2 snaps early on. Rashod Bateman is by no means a dominant force, and two rookies in Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt need to show they can handle the athleticism of the NFL. Boutte is a ready-made big play threat with something to prove, as he was essentially kicked out of a starting role.

Boutte has shown he can outplay his draft position at this point, but he needs a team like the Ravens to give him a spot where he can get the volume he needs to be effective.
