Alvin Kamara and his future with the New Orleans Saints has become one of the main stories of the NFL offseason. The Saints legend has one year left on his deal, but New Orleans has already turned the page to a new era. It remains unclear if the Saints will give him the courtesy of finishing out his contract, and possibly his career, in New Orleans, or if they’ll trade or release him. If it's the latter, the Baltimore Ravens may want to get involved.
The ongoing mystery had another development on Wednesday, as Kamara randomly showed up to Saints' voluntary OTAs. The veteran running back typically spends his offseasons away from the team, but he said he got the urge to show up and he did just that.
Not only did the veteran running back practice with his rebuilding Saints team, he held court with the New Orleans media and gave some transparent answers to all the questions about his uncertain situation. Of his many responses, there was one that should have got the attention of teams throughout the NFL, like the Baltimore Ravens.
Throughout his time with the Saints, Kamara has repeatedly made it clear that he has no desire to play for another team. From saying that his body would reject any other uniforms, like something out of a comic book, to explicitly saying that when New Orleans is ready to move on from him, he’ll just retire and kick his feet up.
The running back was asked about those comments on Wednesday, and his tune had changed. When asked if he still feels that way, Kamara responded, “[I’m] chilling. Right now, the plan is I’m still under contract [in New Orleans], so I’m a Saint. So, we’ll see if anything happens, then we’ll go from there.”

Ravens should explore adding Alvin Kamara after he leaves the door open to a possible team change
That’s a big difference from clearly saying you’ll never play for another team. While Kamara didn’t guarantee that he would move on to another squad, either, he appears to be leaving the door open. The could be because he’s wrestling with the idea of actually ending his football career.
If Kamara decides to continue playing, and the Saints think it’s best to move on, the Baltimore Ravens should absolutely explore adding the five-time Pro Bowler. Either by trade or as a free agent, if he’s released, Kamara coming to Baltimore would make a lot of sense for both sides. Just take another look at the clip above. He's wearing a Baltimore Orioles hat.
Yes, the Ravens still have Derrick Henry, but a loaded backfield is never a problem. Additionally, Kamara is a much different back than Henry, and the Saints legend could emerge as a huge factor in the passing game in Baltimore. Also, Kamara would be an upgrade at RB2 over Justice Hill, while simultaneously giving rookie fifth-round Adam Randall time to develop.
For Kamara, joining the Ravens would give him an opportunity to play with a contender and chase a Super Bowl in a role where he can be a worthy contributor. The veteran rusher is still productive, even though he was limited to just 11 games last season. In those games, he added 471 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and 186 receiving yards through the year.
A season prior to that, Kamara was having one of the best season of his career, thriving with Klint Kubiak as his offensive coordinator. In Baltimore, alongside Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara can show that he still has a lot left in the tank, as the Ravens push for a Super Bowl.
