The Baltimore Ravens have a physical matchup lying ahead of them on Sunday. Their Week 15 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals is not only a must-win, but also as physical as it gets.
The rough conditions should put a hard-nosed battle on full display. While both teams have superstar quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow capable of taking over the game, a major emphasis should be put on the rushing attack and quick passing game. The offenses will look to wear defenses down from the opening whistle.
That makes Baltimore’s latest update on two key defensive starters all the more important.
On Saturday, the Ravens activated safety Ar’Darius Washington and outside linebacker Tavius Robinson from injured reserve, officially confirming their availability for Sunday’s clash. There were no corresponding moves, as the team had two open spots. Their roster is now at 53 players.
Ravens expected to have two key defenders return
It is fair to question how many snaps the two returning starters will play, as they are coming back from significant injuries. Robinson has not played since breaking his foot in Baltimore’s Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Washington is set to make his 2025 season debut after tearing his Achilles tendon in the offseason.
Regardless of how big a role they play, Robinson and Washington are returning at a critical time. Not only does Baltimore need to end their losing streak, but their defense is also coming off back-to-back troublesome outings. While the offense did the unit no favors, Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr’s group has allowed 59 points in the last two games.
In Robinson’s case, he rejoins a position group that has faced turmoil all year. The Ravens have 19 sacks in 2025, and despite only playing in six games, Robinson is one of three players tied for second on the team with two sacks. While he has never been a prolific pass rusher, Robinson can provide a diverse ability to rush the passer and set the edge in run defense. He should make an immediate impact on his return.
Washington may not have his starting role waiting for him in his return. General Manager Eric DeCosta acquired safety Alohi Gilman to fill his void, who has played admirably. Still, Washington provides elite coverage instincts and versatility to line up in the box and at slot corner, as well. He also forced three takeaways last year with two interceptions and one forced fumble.
With four games left, Robinson and Washington could not have chosen a better time to return from injury.
