The Baltimore Ravens have had a wide receiver problem throughout their history. They finally have a Pro Bowler in Zay Flowers, but they’ve lacked depth, and entering 2026, that may remain an issue. That’s why fans have clamored for the team to sign Stefon Diggs.
Diggs, while talented, is a polarizing player. We’ve been adamant that the Ravens shouldn’t sign the four-time Pro Bowler; however, that’s not to say people aren’t intrigued by the idea. He just put up a 1,000-yard season, and some fans believe he could contribute to a dangerous offense.
Those fans might be disappointed by the recent offseason buzz, though. Head coach Jesse Minter seems confident that at least one of Baltimore’s two rookie wideouts will have a role this year, and reports suggest Devontez Walker could see a workload increase.
That could spell an end to the Stefon Diggs rumors.
Baltimore Ravens don’t appear to have Stefon Diggs in their 2026 plans
Would Stefon Diggs be an upgrade? Yeah, you could say that. However, would he be worth the potential headache? Maybe not. While he’s been a consistent threat across his 11-year career, he’s also ended his two most successful tenures, with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, in disgruntled fashion. There were off-the-field issues this past offseason, too.
All of that is to say, Baltimore is probably better off moving forward with what they currently have at the spot. They already have an alpha in Zay Flowers, who should be on a collision course with his third straight 1,000-yard season and Pro Bowl nod, and they have a group of other wideouts with a fairly high ceiling. For Devontez Walker, Ja’Kobi Lane, and Elijah Sarratt, there’s been plenty of buzz surrounding their potential involvement on offense.
Walker is the returning name of that trio, and although he has just seven receptions to his name through two seasons, he’s flashed in a big way. He has 157 yards and four touchdowns on those seven catches. Clearly, he’s got talent, and Jeff Zrebiec recently reported on Baltimore Collective that he could be a guy to watch this year. Simultaneously, it sounds like he ruled out the idea of the organization going after a veteran like Diggs.

‘I say that for two reasons. One, his stock is automatically up because the Ravens haven’t brought in a veteran receiver & don’t seem inclined to do so at this point. I’m not saying it won’t… pic.twitter.com/UyhM6hF4Jq
With a major offensive shift through the hiring of offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, Walker could become more involved. The Ravens have to take advantage of his ability as a deep threat.
And the same could be said for Lane and Sarratt. The two rookies are immersed in an intense battle that could ultimately be for the last contributing wide receiver role on offense. They bring a physical playstyle that Lamar Jackson has lacked within his arsenal, and Baltimore would be wise to utilize their skill sets, rather than bring on another player who brings similar skills to Rashod Bateman.
Speaking of Bateman, he could change the tune in 2026. I’m not saying he’s better than Diggs, but he could return to solid productivity.
To put it bluntly, Bateman’s 2025 campaign was a complete disaster. Injuries once again caused hiccups, and his effort and consistency were a problem. But some of that could be drawn back to his starting quarterback, Lamar Jackson, missing games. With the two-time MVP returning to 100 percent and the presence of Doyle, Bateman could bounce back and play closer to the 2024 version of himself, who put up a fine 756-yard and nine-touchdown season. That might be more worthwhile than seeking out Diggs’ services.
Of course, training camp and preseason could reveal cracks in the Ravens’ current wide receiver structure. If that occurs, then they could certainly pivot to adding a proven veteran like Diggs. For now, though, they need to see what they have. And it sounds like that’s their plan.
