Ravens' overlooked battle comes down to two players fighting a similar wave

The Baltimore Ravens have questions when it comes to their cornerbacks in 2026. Last year was disastrous, but the hiring of Jesse Minter should help provide a massive rebound. If he can get guys back on the right track, the secondary could actually become one of the more difficult roster decisions.

The cornerback room is littered with roster-caliber talent. Seriously. There are nine to 10 guys who could realistically make the team. That’ll make for some tough calls for Minter, and among those could be between two 2025 draft picks: Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam.

Both corners are gearing up for training camp, riding a similar wave. They saw their rookie campaigns cut short before the regular season due to serious knee injuries, and in 2026, they’re fighting for their football lives. With all the depth, they could be battling it out for the final spot at cornerback.

Baltimore Ravens have quiet cornerback question between Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam

It’s not a star-studded question by any means, but it could be an interesting one as Jesse Minter becomes the new leader of Baltimore’s defense. The starters are ready to go with Nate Wiggins, Marlon Humphrey, and Chidobe Awuzie running it back. Then you have the almost surefire backups in T.J. Tampa and fifth-round pick Chandler Rivers. That likely leaves two spots remaining, and with Keyon Martin looking like a favorite for one, Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam could be in a duel for the second.

If the Ravens want an outside-focused corner, Kone’s probably going to be their guy. He was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and flashed in camp last year. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL and MCL in the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, ending his rookie season before it even got started.

Even given that injury, it’s hard to ignore the way that Kone flashed last offseason. He also possesses the desirable measurables and brings every bit of physicality at 6-foot-1. Coming off such a serious injury, though, there could be questions about how he’ll look in the next few months. He’s been rehabbing, but has yet to make a full return to team activities. Every bit of time counts in this league, and while it’s a harsh reality, it may have opened the door for Longerbeam to steal the show.

And Longerbeam's done just that. He's had some big moments during Baltimore’s offseason program. According to Ryan Mink on BaltimoreRavens.com, the 25-year-old was the most surprising players of OTAs and minicamp, even calling him “one of the team’s most impactful cornerbacks.” Notably, he notched an interception off Skyler Thompson.

At 5-foot-11, Longerbeam is more fit for a role in the slot, which could be very tough for him, as Baltimore has lots of depth there. He does bring versatility to the table, though, playing on the outside at Rutgers and flashing in occasional moments on the outside in practice. He brings plenty of physicality and competitiveness, too.

Ultimately, the Ravens could overload at corner and keep both Kone and Longerbeam. Keyon Martin could even be the odd man out if the two 2025 selections perform that well. Regardless, even if Kone and Longerbeam make the team, they’ll be duking it out for positioning on the depth chart. That could be just as crucial.
