The Baltimore Ravens put together an exciting class in the 2026 NFL Draft, but they did things a little differently this year. General manager Eric DeCosta, who has been with the franchise since 1996, serving as the team’s general manager since 2019, revealed that the franchise did something it hasn’t done before. Baltimore let team owner Steve Bisciotti make a draft pick.

Following the conclusion of the Draft, DeCosta explained Bisciotti had begged him for a pick prior to the draft. Acknowledging that Bisciotti owns the team, the general manager agreed, saying the team owner can make his pick with the team’s final fifth round selection. Bisciotti fully engaged in the scouting process and he ultimately made his decision, selecting running back Adam Randall with the 174th pick.

This even being a story or a fun fact could seem odd, because again, Bisciotti does own the team. Considering how many owners throughout the league are very clearly making roster decisions, it seems rare that an owner has never made a pick. However, the Ravens’ owner typically sits back and lets the people he hires do their job. Considering how successful Baltimore has been during Bisciotti‘s time as the owner, that seemed like the right decision.

For whatever reason, the owner wanted to make a pick this time around, and that’s what he did on day three of the draft. While some people in the football world think this is a fun, low-stakes story. Others have pointed to it as an example of owners meddling, and not allowing everyone else to do their job. That seems a bit unfair to Bisciotti, considering his history as an owner, and DeCosta’s lightheartedness in telling the story.

However, there’s always a way to make discourse out of everything, so people will surely find a way to debate if this decision was right or wrong. I guess we'll have to wait for Randall's career to pan out. Then we'll know.

Either way, the Ravens drafted Clemson running back Adam Randall in the fifth round of the 2026 Draft, and it’s clear who will get all the praise or blame for that selection. The 6-foot-3, 232-pound running back is an intriguing player, so there’s reason to believe he will be a valuable contributor in Baltimore. If he is, everyone will have Steve Bisciotti to thank.
