The Baltimore Ravens are facing an uphill battle against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. They face a high-powered offense and a promising young defense that knows how to pressure the quarterback. Given Baltimore’s early troubles to limit pressure and get stops on defense, this matchup should be an easy win for the Rams.

The Ravens do appear to have an improved secondary, though, which could limit quarterback Matthew Stafford through the air. The additions of safeties Alohi Gilman and C.J. Gardner-Johnson should open up the unit’s versatility, especially with All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton, who is returning from injury. The defense will also see cornerback Marlon Humphrey return to action in Week 6, and while he has struggled in 2025, the reformed secondary could benefit everyone involved.

One of the only players who has provided consistently strong play over the first five weeks is corner Nate Wiggins. He has registered a 72.1 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus, which ranks 25th among qualifying cornerbacks. He is quickly cementing his status as a top young corner, and in a matchup where he will face All-Pro-caliber receivers in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, he has the chance to put himself in elite conversations.

Nate Wiggins faces pivotal test vs. Rams

Both Nacua and Adams are delivering strong campaigns this year. Nacua is pacing the league in receiving yards with 588 yards on 52 receptions, and Adams looks like he is still in his prime, hauling in 22 passes for 357 yards. The electric duo is the perfect first test for Baltimore’s improved secondary, and for a rising star like Wiggins, he could make a statement.

Wiggins will likely mainly draw Adams on Sunday. He could also see his fair share of snaps lined up across from Nacua. However, with Humphrey back and offering similar versatility between the outside and slot like Nacua, Adams should be Wiggins’ main competition.

Regardless, Wiggins will have his work cut out for him. The Rams’ offense has totaled the second-most yards in the league with 2,009, and their passing offense also ranks second with 1,448 yards. Stafford is one of the best gunslingers the NFL has seen, and even at 37 years old, it is clear that no matter who is lining up at wide receiver, his passing offense will be among the best. He will undoubtedly put the 22-year-old Wiggins to the test.

The Ravens have the odds stacked against them in Week 6, but if Wiggins does his part by making plays and maybe even grabbing his second interception of the season along the way, they could put up a fight.
