The Baltimore Ravens’ defense took a hit Thursday night as star safety Kyle Hamilton exited their Week 10 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals with an ankle injury.

Hamilton, a third-year standout and 2023 All-Pro, went down in the second quarter on a non-contact play, immediately raising concerns about the severity of his injury.

With the game tied 7-7, Hamilton dropped back in coverage and fell to the ground without contact as Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow connected with Ja'Marr Chase for a 13-yard gain. Frustrated, Hamilton punched the ground before being helped off by trainers. He walked into the medical tent under his own power but was soon taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Ravens' defensive star Kyle Hamilton is ruled OUT for the rest of the game

Initially listed as questionable to return, Hamilton was officially ruled out early in the third quarter, leaving a noticeable void in the Ravens' secondary.

Known for his versatility, Hamilton had already contributed four tackles and two pass breakups before his injury. His departure was felt almost immediately, as Cincinnati capitalized on his absence and took a 14-7 lead four plays after he left.

Hamilton has been a key playmaker for Baltimore, with 67 tackles, five passes defended, and two sacks through nine games this season. His ability to seamlessly switch between deep coverage and run support has made him an invaluable asset to the Ravens’ defense.

With Hamilton sidelined, the Ravens' safety depth will be tested. Marcus Williams and Eddie Jackson, who were recently benched, will need to step up alongside Ar'Darius Washington, who has shown promise but is still primarily a rotational player. The loss of Hamilton, even temporarily, is a significant setback for a Ravens defense that has leaned heavily on his skill and adaptability this season.

Baltimore fans will be holding their breath for updates on Hamilton’s condition as the team prepares for the crucial stretch of games ahead.

Update: Hamilton was seen on the sidelines afterward with a boot on.
