The Baltimore Ravens have nearly a full team of new coaches in charge this year. After 18 years of John Harbaugh at the helm, the Ravens are entering a new and exciting era.
After firing Harbaugh, the team opted to go with a man who knows what Ravens football is all about to be their head coach, hiring Jesse Minter. Along the way, there has been a ton of coaching fallout. And Minter has constructed a stout coaching staff with seemingly limitless potential.
Now, Minter’s first coaching staff as a head coach looks complete. Baltimore put the finishing touches on it, bringing in Keary Colbert to be their wide receivers coach. He’ll replace Greg Lewis, who spent three years in that role.

Colbert comes by way of the Denver Broncos, where he was their wide receivers coach from 2023 to 2025. He joins offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, tight ends coach Zack Grossi, senior offensive assistant Joe Lombardi, and senior special teams assistant Ben Kotwica as coaches who once coached for the Denver Broncos. Clearly, it’s the Sean Payton coaching tree that has the Ravens and Minter so enamored with Denver’s staffers.
Ravens add Keary Colbert from the Broncos’ and Sean Payton’s staff
Payton is one of the best coaches in recent history. His coaching tree has been growing at an impressive rate with guys like Dan Campbell (Detroit Lions), Aaron Glenn (New York Jets), and Joe Brady (Buffalo Bills) signing on for head coaching gigs in the last several years. Doyle and Jim Leonhard (Bills) are also two coordinators on the rise, and Colbert could join them if he stays on the right track.
Colbert was a professional football player from 2004 to 2011 and was on an NFL roster for six seasons. Since then, he’s slowly but surely made his way up the coaching ladder. After 13 years in the college ranks, he got his feet wet at the NFL level in that wide receivers coach role with the Broncos in 2023.
In three seasons with the Broncos, Colbert had a key part in the development of some talented wideouts. Two-time Pro Bowler Courtland Sutton has been playing some of his best football over the last two years, second-year pro Troy Franklin took major strides in 2025, and while Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims didn’t carve out significant roles under Colbert, they flashed as timely playmakers.
The Ravens desperately need someone to revive their receiving core. Two-time Pro Bowler Zay Flowers has become an elite threat, but outside of him, it was quiet last season. The team’s second-best receiving option was tight end Mark Andrews, who finished with just 422 yards, and number two wideout Rashod Bateman took a huge step back with 19 receptions, 224 yards, and two touchdowns.
Hopefully, Keary Colbert can bring life back to the air attack that fans saw dominate in 2024. Maybe he can bring a bit more electricity, too.
