A clear message is being sent.

As the Baltimore Ravens enjoy a culture change this offseason, their efforts to reload their roster have followed suit.

In years past, the trenches were an afterthought; using higher draft capital and cap space on more valuable positions like offensive tackle, wide receiver, and defensive back was their motto. As a result, some areas of the offensive and defensive lines were built through scraps of later draft picks and veterans past their prime. Well, that’s not the case any longer.

The front office and coaching staff made it clear that they’d place a heavier emphasis on the trenches this offseason. As if that wasn’t already clear enough, Baltimore’s draft visits so far have backed that idea up, especially on defense.

According to Sports Illustrated, eight of the team’s confirmed prospect visits up to this point reside on the defensive front. That’s the most for any position group.

Baltimore Ravens may make a major investment at key spot in the 2026 NFL Draft

On the defensive front, the Ravens already added Trey Hendrickson. They signed him to a blockbuster four-year, $112 million deal, adding a legitimate pass rush presence to a unit that was very quiet in 2025. It’s also been reported that they intended to pair Hendrickson with Maxx Crosby before that trade fell through. Clearly, they have bigger intentions than just Hendrickson.

Among those prospects that Baltimore has had a visit with on the defensive line are four edge defenders and four defensive tackles.

Off the edge, they’ve expressed some interest in Keldric Faulk (Auburn), Zion Young (Missouri), R Mason Thomas (Oklahoma), and Dani Dennis-Sutton (Penn State).

On the interior defensive line, they’ve had visits with Peter Woods (Clemson), Kayden McDonald (Ohio State), Caleb Banks (Florida), and Landon Robinson (Navy).

Six of those eight prospects have consistently been projected to be picked within the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. Clearly, they’re eyeing a heavy investment along the defensive front early in this year’s draft. You can never take visits and rumors as confirmation about prospect interest, especially for a tight-lipped organization like the Ravens, but they may be tipping their hand slightly.

The defensive line already looks great. The group of Hendrickson, Mike Green, Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, and John Jenkins is very strong. However, Baltimore needs more trusted depth to lean on, and new head coach and defensive guru Jesse Minter will know how to make the most of said depth. One or maybe even a few of those prospects could be just that, helping the defense level up.
