The Baltimore Ravens have a vengeful defense ready to tear apart opposing offenses in 2026. What happened last year was nothing short of a disaster, and it cannot happen again. The organization did everything in its power to ensure that it won't.
This offseason saw Baltimore add all types of talent on defense. Additions like Trey Hendrickson and Calais Campbell are already making an impact with their leadership, and it’s clear that the energy in the building is just different.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Tavius Robinson laid out the mindset that it’ll take to return to dominance on defense.
“It’s going out there every day and instilling fear in our opponents,” Robinson said. “Playing physical every play, being a unit and playing together … when we do that, we’re special.”
That’ll get some fans fired up.

In the past, when you saw Baltimore on your schedule, you knew your offense was going to have a rough go of it. Nothing came easy—every yard was always earned. However, in 2025, their defense was an easy target. Fear was nonexistent; it was more excitement whenever offenses saw that group lining up across from them.
That is set to change in 2026, and it starts with Jesse Minter and Anthony Weaver.
Since being hired as the head coach, Minter has talked about restoring the standard you usually see from Baltimore defenses. Last year, it felt like there was a lack of communication and energy, leading to some ugly results. With an elite defensive play-caller in Minter calling the shots, though, we should see that unit post terrific numbers.
While Minter brings the expertise, Weaver brings the fire. Weaver’s coaching does exactly what Robinson was talking about—instilling fear in the opponent.
Weaver’s an excellent defensive mind in his own right, don’t get me wrong, but what really sets him apart from others is how he leads. Every word that comes out of his mouth comes from the heart, and the passion he brings to the table is infectious. Evidently, it’s already rubbing off on Baltimore’s defense.
That coaching duo is ready to get the most out of their group, too. You could make the case that it was already an extremely talented defense entering this offseason, just poorly coached. However, for any doubts that were there, decisions in free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft should have changed that attitude.
The aforementioned signings of Hendrickson and Campbell will obviously be difference-makers, but other defensive additions in the likes of Jaylinn Hawkins and Zion Young will be extremely important, as well. And if we’re talking about energy and striking fear into opponents, the second-rounder Young is all about that.
A rebound won’t come easy for the Ravens. They were so bad in 2025 that it’s hard to pin it entirely on former defensive coordinator Zach Orr. Still, he was the biggest problem, and with a much-improved coaching staff and a serious influx of talent, the goal of restoring the standard in Charm City is well within reach.
