Ravens' Tyler Loop erases any remaining doubt with game-winning field goal

Tyler freaking Loop. The Baltimore Ravens pulled out a last-second victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, and Loop was the hero. His 56-yard field goal as time expired sent Baltimore players and fans at Maracanã Stadium into a frenzy.

Let's just watch it one more time because I'm sure all fans are watching this on repeat.

It was awesome to see. No player was doubted more than Loop entering the 2026 regular season. He had an awful go of things in the preseason and was even being challenged for his job after the signing of Jake Moody.

Since then, though, Loop has answered those doubters, and on Sunday, he did so with authority. If there were any remaining questions about who he is after a solid start, his game-winner is sure to have pushed those out of mind.

Baltimore Ravens have all the confidence in the world in Tyler Loop now

This is a huge turnaround for Tyler Loop. Last year, a missed field goal ended Baltimore’s season. Sure, that was a painful miss, but what’s done is done, and Loop showed progress, putting that fully behind him with the game-winner.

He was 0-for-1 in game-winning attempts when stepping up for that kick. Now, he’s 1-for-2.

This year, it’s clear he has a better feel for the moment. You can see he just looks more confident and locked into his process when the moment comes. Following the game, Loop spoke about his big kick and what’s been helping him build success.

“We’ve talked a lot this season about being the best when your best is needed. There’s been a lot of adversity,” Loop said. “It’s been a pleasure to have teammates like these guys and the rest of the locker room stand behind me.”

And if you ask Lamar Jackson, he knew Loop was making that kick from the second they called the timeout.

“I had no doubt in my mind [Loop was making it],” Jackson said. “I was sitting on the sideline like ‘your legacy starts now.’ I felt like he was facing adversity, and I said, ‘What a way to start your legacy in Brazil.’ And he finished the rest.”

Loop’s head coach Jesse Minter is also super happy for him. He’s had Loop’s back the entire way over the past several months, even after Baltimore signed Jake Moody. Some fans may have questioned it at the time, but it’s clear why you can trust this guy. He exudes confidence in himself.

Having confidence in your kicker is one thing, but when he starts making those clutch kicks, everything changes. It eases pressure on the offense, knowing they don’t have to go full superhero mode on third down all the time. And with an offense led by Jackson and Derrick Henry, they have the talent to get into field goal range at the very least on a consistent basis.

This was truly the last step for Loop, too. Last year, he had a decent season but failed to hit much of anything from distance. He was 30-for-34, and three of those four misses came from 50-plus yards out.

He’s 2-for-2 from 50-plus in 2026, and he’s already made one of the clutchest kicks of the entire NFL season. Hopefully, that’s a sign that the in-game pressure is no longer a factor for him.

To put it simply, Loop was at his best when his best was needed. Doubters. Silenced.
