The Baltimore Ravens saw some key players stand out in their 27-19 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10. It was a slow day from the offense, but they got the job done. The defense and special teams are where the real highlight plays were made.

Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr’s unit snagged two interceptions on Sunday, and the special teams forced a couple of fumbles in kick returns. They recovered one of those fumbles, which set up a tone-setting touchdown midway through the third quarter that put the Ravens up two scores.

On defense, rookie safety Malaki Starks got the second interception of his career, making it back-to-back games with an interception. All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey also got one after recovering a fumble in Baltimore’s Week 9 win against the Miami Dolphins last week.

Special teams-wise, this team is starting to see two unexpected playmakers emerge. Undrafted rookie safety Keondre Jackson forced and recovered the fumble that would set up that game-changing touchdown, and undrafted corner Keyon Martin had some big-time moments on special teams coverage, too, and also got in on the action on defense.

The undrafted rookie duo is quickly making their names known, and they are helping set the tone during this impressive stretch.

Keondre Jackson, Keyon Martin emerging as key contributors in Ravens’ win streak

Jackson and Martin have been doing this all season, but just as the rest of the team is finding a rhythm, the two are making a larger impact than ever before.

They are truly making the most of every snap they are being given, and having the time of their lives on the football field. After the game, during Jackson’s postgame interview, Martin was smiling ear-to-ear and had to comment on Jackson’s backflip celebration after his takeaway.

“He hit the backflip last week against Miami. They told him not to. They said, ‘If you do it, do it if you make a bigger play,’” Martin said. “So he forced a fumble, and then he came back and hit a backflip again. He earned that backflip.”

Jackson was signed to the active roster after second-year safety Sanoussi Kane was waived. Jackson had become an elite special teams threat in the two games leading up to Baltimore’s Week 9 win, but was out of practice squad elevations. The Ravens opted for the roster shift, and it is looking like an incredible move.

Martin made noise in the preseason, becoming one of three undrafted rookies to make the roster to begin the regular season. He made a key tackle on a punt by Jordan Stout to pin the Vikings inside the 20 early in the second quarter on Sunday, and also made contributions at slot corner.

In eight defensive snaps, Martin earned a 78.2 grade, per Pro Football Focus. He made three tackles, and two of those were critical plays made on a last-gasp drive by Minnesota at the end of the game.

The duo is clearly still honing their craft, but they are doing all the little things right and are helping propel Baltimore to its best stretch of the season.
