Lamar Jackson is back. He was a full participant and will be playing on Sunday. It still sounds like he’s a bit banged up, but he’s healthy enough to play.

Jaylinn Hawkins and Vega Ioane were ruled out on Friday, though.

Hawkins isn’t a huge loss given his subpar performance in 2026, and that should allow Keondre Jackson and K’Von Wallace another shot to shine.

Ioane is obviously a monstrous loss. He gave it a go this week, practicing in limited capacity on Thursday and Friday. Ultimately, though, his reported MCL sprain will keep him out for at least one week.

The Ravens will have to lean on Andrew Vorhees or Emery Jones Jr., neither of whom is necessarily good. One of them will have to step up to protect Jackson.

Adam Randall and T.J. Tampa are inching closer and closer to their returns, too. While both are currently on IR, they were full participants this week. And with two open spots on their 53-man roster, there’s a world where one or both are active.

Even coming off a bye week, the Bills have a lengthy injury report. There are several big names here.

D.J. Moore and Dalton Kincaid are the notable ones. However, they’re both in a decent spot. Moore has been dealing with an AC joint sprain for weeks, and Kincaid dealt with a chest injury in Week 6, but finished the game. After resting up, there’s a good chance the two critical air weapons will be back.

Like Moore and Kincaid, Spencer Brown is also fighting through pain. His back injury started in Week 5, which flared up in Week 6. He didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He was limited on Friday, though.

As for Dee Alford, the Bills’ starting slot corner is trending the wrong way. He was limited on Wednesday with a knee injury, and didn’t practice the rest of the week.

Storylines to watch for Ravens in Week 8

Lamar Jackson’s return

Lamar Jackson is ready to rejuvenate a struggling Ravens team. After a two-game losing streak and going 1-2 without him, Jackson is making a much-needed return.

You don’t really stand a chance beating the Bills with your backup quarterback. With Jackson, though, Baltimore can score points in bunches. The trio of him, Derrick Henry, and Zay Flowers has been unstoppable when they’ve all been on the field in 2026, which has unfortunately only been for 8 quarters.

And in Week 8, Jackson faces one of the worst defenses in the NFL. He shouldn’t have much trouble getting back on his horse with Buffalo’s abysmal secondary lining up across from him.

Baltimore’s defense gets to face Josh Allen after ugly Week 7

The Ravens’ defense completely collapsed in Week 7. The Cincinnati Bengals embarrassed them in the second half, scoring 35 points. And it won’t get any easier. Now they have the misfortune of facing Josh Allen.

It’s somehow bound to get even tougher for the defense. They stepped in a pothole at the wrong time, and if they’re not careful, Allen and Buffalo’s offense will do even more damage. They’ve been on a dominant pace this year.

The Bills average a league-best 32.8 points per game, and the Josh Allen/James Cook duo is leading the NFL’s second-best rushing attack.

There is some hope Jesse Minter’s unit can get back on track, though. Baltimore struggles more with the passing attack and is actually good against the run. Still, Allen and Cook will produce, and D.J. Moore and Khalil Shakir are a competent enough receiving duo to do damage through the air.

Simply put, the Ravens must be on their A game.

Can the rushing attack return to dominance?

Over the last two games, the Ravens’ rushing attack hasn’t done a thing. 3.8 yards per carry in Week 6 and 3.1 yards per carry in Week 7. Dreadful.

Against Tyler Huntley, though, defenses can focus on the run game. Lamar Jackson opens everything up. Derrick Henry and Justice Hill should have way more space to make plays.

The offensive line should also be a better spot. Sure, they don’t have Vega Ioane, but they shouldn’t have to deal with as many stacked boxes. With less trash in front of them in short areas, the pass blocking and run blocking could be slightly better.

That needs to translate into rushing production. To beat Buffalo, you have to keep the ball out of Josh Allen’s hands. Run the ball, milk the clock, and let Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry run wild.

Prediction

Ravens 27, Bills 24

Lamar Jackson’s return is breathing hope back into Charm City. It feels like he’s the only one who can save this team. And his leadership may be what the Ravens are missing.

Jackson’s play and passion are second to none. He seamlessly uplifts the passing and rushing attacks, and against a horrendous defense, there shouldn’t be many issues putting points on the board.

When the offense thrives, the defense can follow suit. They’ve flashed the ability to lock down opposing offenses, but there have been major mentality questions. Maybe with their captain and an effective offense returning in Week 8, things could shift.

This would be a way to turn a corner. A win against the Bills, a team the Ravens have built a rivalry with and that’s hurt them in the playoffs, would set the tone. You want to transform the energy in the locker room? Beat Buffalo.
